We are less than 100 days away from one of the most important voting sessions in our recent history. In light of the significance of this event, our Presiding Bishop, Bishop Charles E. Blake, through the COGIC Counts Initiative, is urging our COGIC congregations to be aware of the power of our votes. We must build solidarity and solidify our political power at the polls.
Your vote is important. This year, as we continue to face the challenges of a global pandemic, and threats to our US Postal mailing systems, it is particularly important that you take a bit of extra initiative to ensure that your voice is heard!
Here are a few helpful tips as you navigate the voting process:
(Please note that some of the deadlines noted below may be specific to a particular County. Check your resident County to track important deadlines).
1. If you are eligible to vote, it is vitally important that you register prior to the general election date—November 3, 2020. Also, to be safe, check your voter registration status to be sure that you are able to vote in the upcoming election with no problems.
We’ve included resources below to help you get started with this process.

General Election Day
General Election Day: Tuesday, November 3, 2020.
2. Submit your ballots BEFORE November 3, if possible.
Mailing of Vote by Mail ballots in all elections begins 29 days prior to Election Day. This means, you do not have to wait until the day of the election to mail your ballot.
There are multiple options on how to return your ballot:
1. By mail, remember no postage is necessary
2. In person at any Vote by Mail drop box location
3. At any Vote Center in your County.
One of the biggest mistakes many people make when submitting their ballot by mail is forgetting to sign the ballot. Take extra precaution to review, seal and sign the ballot BEFORE you mail or drop the ballot off at a drop box or vote center.
3. Visit your County’s Register website to track your ballot and to ensure it has been tallied for the election.
